ELEGY FOR SADDAM HUSSEIN AND HIS PLACE IN HISTORY

The former Iraqi dictator was sentenced to death for the killing of 148 shittes in the central city of Dujail.

He never would have even dreamt that one day he would be sentenced to death like a plebeian by an Iraqi tribunal. At least Saddam Hussein addressing himself as the Iraqi premier hitherto does not suggest that. The gallows await Saddam after the appeals court upheld the decision of the tribunal which had come on the 5Th of November. He might be executed on any day in the next 30 days following the verdict. Saddam Hussein would probably be remembered for coming close to challenging the notoriety of Hitler and eventually ending up light years adrift of the Nazi dictator on all idiosyncrasies that dictators are made of . On a slightly frivolous note, he showed a lot of promise as a dictator but faded with time and history might have him as any other dictator, if at all. But I think many dictators like the Chilean dictator Picochet , who left for his hell based abode only a few weeks ago, will be just remembered in history as generic dictators who had all the characteristics of a dictator but failed to reach the acme of cruelty. Similarly there was nothing extraordinarily savage about Saddam Hussein either, that would have him a mention in the history books other than of course the hype that U.S.A was able to build around him. So, he will be remembered for that reason alone. A famous quasi dictator , referred to as a conqueror/general in a more dignified way, comes to mind and I write the coda of this piece/blog to be a quote by him as under

Argentina Should Take Their Defeat With A Pinch Of Lehmann

I type this post with a lot heart felt anguish and despair. My being is filled with grief. As the team that I was rooting for has been show the way out of the footballing extravaganza called the world cup. It was the gallant effort of Jens Lehmann that denied a relentless Argentina a place in the semi-finals. The detractors of Jens Lehmann should take this with the proverbial pinch of salt or the witty pinch of Lehmann.

Wii VYING FOR THE GAMERS

The next generation of video game consoles have arrived with a lot of pomp, gaudy at times. Remember the old cliche'," all that glitters is not gold". Nintendo seem to have struck gold but without the blinding glitter. There game console rechristened Wii from Revolution is the most peculiar of the three vying for the gamers, galore. I t might not be the graphical powerhouse a next gen console is readily perceived to be. No, it does not sport a processor with three cores @ 3.2 ghz each ala xbox 360, nor does it have the much hyped cell processing technology from which the gaming prowess of the Ps3 allegedly stems. Infact, it almost makes a mockery of the next gen tag. As it is powerful enough to huff and puff it's way to out perform it's predecessor, the GAME CUBE. But nintendo have their thinking cap glued to their heads. Combining their perception of a regular gamer, which mind you is romanticised to the very extent of being a fairy tale, with their undying resolve to serve this class of gamer;they cater to a niche of gamers which is the epitome of brand loyalty.

They might have not concentrated on enhancing the graphical capability of their console but have left no stone unturned to make it worthy of all it's price tag, rendered humble by the ps3's price(600 U.S.D 4 the premium machine and the base model is rubbish, well i get quiet cruel here in the brackets). The U.S.P of Wii is, it's controller with motion sensors which propels your being into the game. It has two parts that work in tandem. The first part is the controller which is reminiscent of a T.V remote the other is the nun chuk, a device with motion sensors. So, in the next game you might actually might have to weild your Wii controller as if it was a sword. It can metamorphose into a tennis racquet from a sledge hammer in matter of games. Simply, brilliant. Simply, nintendo.

WHAT FAVOURS NINTENDO Wii:
1. Promises to keep.......................miles to go before, I sleep.
Nitendo never promised the world with Wii. Infact it was always shrouded
in so much secrecy that ninteno never made any promises.Ulike,Sony.
Where is the motion sensors in their remote control that they had promised.

2. The price is right.
Wii:$250
Xbox 360:$300-400
Ps3:$500-600

3. Nintendo be hailed.
The loyalists will stay with nintendo and cutting edge graphics might not
be able to woo them.Remeber the nintendo ds has outsold sony psp 3:1 despite
the latter's home console-like graphical ability.

FIFA 2006:SHOCK AND AWE FOR U.S.A CZECH STYLE

Remember U.S defense secretary announcing that they were going to employ the policy of shock and awe during the second installment of the gulf war. Remember , you do. Those claims soon became the raw material for some banter and many a people had a hearty-stomach-flexing laugh. But the hammering the U.S soccer team received at the hand of the CZECH REPUBLIC
would have certainly evoked the emotion of shock and awe made famous by Mr Rumsfeld. Probably he is having a feeling of de ja vu.

The Czech republic were on an unrelenting hunt for goals. The Czech began the goal feast with the seasoned Koller heading home with what else, a header. Then the young prodigy Rosicky joined the party with the most scintillating of long range strikes. He was in no mood to cease the hostilities there as the third goal for the Czechs followed soon. Now the U.S might be shocked and certainly in awe of the CZECH'S.

VERDICT: AWE ! INSPIRING PERFORMANCE BY THE CZECH REPUBLIC
